listening

I will instruct you and show you the way to go;
with My eye on you, I will give counsel. Psalm 32:8

It seems I'm having a sort of writer's block. I don't like it much (even my facebook status bar has suffered, and you know how much that kills me:) but I'm certain it has good purpose, because during these weeks that I have not been writing, I have most definitely been listening.

It's kind of funny. My parenting style is very direct. When I want to make a point with my kids, I usually talk to them in a way that would be hard for them to miss it. I don't mean that in a confrontational way, it's just that I'm not one much for beating around the bush. And that's exactly what God has been doing with me...not beating around the bush. If you read the last blog entry, "Not a PassingINTEREST," you know that He's working on me. Actually, "working on me" might be sort of a gross understatement. He has made sure to have my attention on this one. Every writing assignment I get points to it. Every television show I watch seems to have a connection. Even Katniss Everdeen had a related word for me. Like I said, He's talking, and I'm listening.

So, instead of leaving the blog unattended, I thought maybe I could use it to share some of the things God has used to work on me these past few weeks. I've wanted to do this anyway....instead of one blog entry a week maybe do two - one day a devotion and another day a share of something someone else wrote or sang that God has made meaningful to me. Who knows? Maybe He'll use them some way in your life, too.

 Here's the first one. I used this video last Wednesday night when I taught in our service for teenagers at church. I think this song is great, and I love the concept of the red solo cups used in the video. There's all kinds of symbolism throughout...look for it and listen. Hope it speaks to you, too.
